Setting Up Google Business Profile – Filling Out the Information on Your Business Profile
If you want to start targeting local consumers and boosting your local visibility online, your business profile must be properly optimized with up to date and accurate information.
Approximate Read Time: 3 Minutes
As mentioned in our previous post, Google Business Profile (GBP) is an essential marketing tool for your law firm. Having your profile complete with the most accurate and comprehensive information will help boost your local presence online. Taking a little time to complete it will improve your chances of attracting clients searching for local attorneys.
In this post, we explain how to fill out your Google Business Profile so that you can update it with your law firm’s information.
Filling Out the Information on Your Business Profile
Go to the Google Business Profile dashboard and select your business. There, you will see your business profile on Google search.
Under the edit profile section, you can add and edit the information about your law firm.
Your dashboard should already have the business name, address, phone number, and website (if you added one) from when you created your profile. If any of these is missing or incorrect, add or correct it.
Now, let’s go over the further information fields available.
Categories
Under the business name, you can find the Categories. You can add multiple categories, but the most important category should be the first one.
Attorney categories from which you can choose are:
- Attorney
- Bankruptcy attorney
- Civil law attorney
- Criminal justice attorney
- Divorce lawyer
- Elder law attorney
- Employment attorney
- Family law attorney
- Immigration attorney
- Insurance attorney
- Law Firm
- Lawyer
- Legal Services
- Medical lawyer
- Patent attorney
- Personal injury attorney
- Real estate attorney
- Tax attorney
- Trial attorney
Service Area
If your business serves clients outside your business address, you can specify a service area where you will serve clients.
Hours
Set your hours of business on this page. The hours should be the times when your office is physically open or, if you are serving clients outside your office within a service area, when you will be serving clients.
More Hours
With More Hours, you can specify the hours for services that your business offers, such as delivery, takeout, drive-through, and pickup.
Holiday Hours
Holiday Hours can be used to add hours for days when your business has an irregular schedule, like holidays or special dates specific to your business (such as when you will be on vacation).
Bookings
With Booking Links, you can include one or more URLs to let clients make appointments with you.
Products and Services
Products and Services allow you to showcase your business products and services. This can help clients know whether you can help them with what they are looking to find.
Attributes
The Attributes section lets you include extra information about your business that could be helpful for your clients, such as accessibility for wheelchairs or amenities.
Business Description
In the Business Description, you can include information about your services or what sets you apart from your competitors. It is very important to have a good business description in order for your business profile to rank in Google Maps and Search for non-branding discovery searches.
Opening Date
Opening Date lets you select the date when you first opened at your business address or when you will open.
Adding Photos and Videos
Photos and short videos on your profile are extremely important. As Google mentions, business profiles with pictures and videos receive more clicks and driving direction requests for Google Maps. To add photos or videos to your business profile, click on the “Photos” option on your dashboard.
Click on the “+” blue button and choose which photos you want to upload to your business profile. We recommend uploading pictures of the interior and exterior of your business, as well as members of the law firm team. Videos are limited to thirty (30) seconds on GBP. Make sure to select one photo as the logo and another as the cover photo because these images can display in Google search results.

You should always keep your Google Business Profile up to date. Having up to date and accurate information will help you get more clients and visits to your business. It is not a difficult process, and it only takes a few minutes.
