In the decades since television, computers, and most crucially, the internet was invented, we have seen a rise in dependence on the screens in front of us. Even more so, we have seen a correlation between the rise of screen dependence with the decline of mental health. In a job that constantly asks that you stay on your toes, the prevalence of mental health challenges and rates of substance abuse continues to climb, and the ever fervent dependency on the screen rather than the world outside our windows does not help.

Shackled to Our Screens: How Technology Has Imprisoned the Legal Profession is approved for one hour of Wellness Competence CLE credit in California, one hour of Substance Abuse/Mental Health CLE credit in South Carolina (all levels), and one hour of Professional Well-Being CLE credit in North Carolina. This course has been approved for Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit by the State Bar of Texas Committee on MCLE in the amount of 0.5 credit hours, of which 0.5 credit hours will apply to Legal Ethics/Professional Responsibility credit. Other jurisdictions may award CLE credit via applicable self-submission policies or reciprocity rules.
