TikTok Alert: Maximum Video Length Expanding to 10 Minutes
TikTok, a popular video-based social media app, rose to popularity by offering short videos limited to one minute or less. After allowing all users to begin posting three-minute videos in July 2021, it looks like even longer videos are now coming to the platform.
Approximate Read Time: 1 Minute
TikTok made headlines early this week when the company confirmed it would allow creators to upload videos up to 10 minutes in length. This change follows an increase in July 2021 that rolled out three-minute videos to all users after allowing a limited group of creators to begin testing the feature in late 2020.
While limited additional information is currently available about this change, a statement from a TikTok spokesperson indicated that the new, longer video feature is currently rolling out, and we expect additional information to be shared in the coming weeks.
Final Thoughts: Why Do You Care?
As lawyers continue to use TikTok to reach new clients, brief and entertaining videos seem to still perform best on the platform. However, 10-minute videos allow lawyers to use TikTok to share longer content, similar to videos shared on YouTube. Because video marketing is the new frontier of legal marketing on social media, having more channels to distribute various types of content to your potential clients is good news for lawyers.
