Justia Lawyer Directory Now Publishing Client Reviews

We are excited to announce that the Justia Lawyer Directory is now publishing client reviews. Together with the existing attorney peer ratings, these two critical perspectives should provide valuable feedback to consumers who are seeking to hire an attorney.

The Justia Lawyer Directory is a free resource for consumers seeking legal counsel to find and research the credentials of relevant attorneys. To help consumers better compare lawyers, Justia has added client reviews to the directory. This new feature will provide a valuable perspective to consumers in the vetting process. Together with the existing attorney peer ratings, these two critical points of view can inform consumers on an attorney’s legal abilities as well as how well they communicate with their clients.

Anyone who has received professional services from an attorney in any type of legal matter may submit a review to the Justia Lawyer Directory. To start a review, click on the Review This Lawyer button from your attorney’s profile page. Clients should then select the Clients: Review Your Lawyer button to initiate a client review. After you verify your identity through either a Facebook or LinkedIn account, you may complete and submit your client review.

Once a review is submitted, Justia will notify the attorney of the pending review as well as the full name of the client, as reported from Facebook or LinkedIn. The review should appear on the attorney’s Justia Lawyer Directory profile within 24 hours and be attributed to the reviewer, with the options to display the client’s name or initials in the review.

An attorney may respond to a review when they receive the notification of the review. For example, if the attorney feels that the content of the review is inaccurate or misleading, they may want to respond to present their perspective. If the attorney did not provide legal services to the person who wrote the review, they can ask to have the review removed, although they cannot remove the review independently. If an attorney does not want to receive client reviews, they can opt-out of client reviews entirely. This does not affect their ability to receive reviews from other attorneys.
