As per a recent announcement, Google will implement changes to its Abusing the Ad Network policy. Users can expect changes to guidelines regarding text manipulation and evasive ad content to improve “readability and understanding”. More specifically, Google has stated the following changes will occur:
Policy guidelines related to “text manipulation” that are currently enforced under the “Circumventing Systems” policy will be moved to a new independent policy called “Evasive Ad Content” within the Abusing the Ad Network policy category.
Under this new “Evasive Ad Content” policy topic, we will extend the prohibited manipulations of trademark terms in ad text to domains, subdomains, and logos; prohibit usage of invisible UNICODE characters in ads that add no value to the ad content for users; and disallow manipulations of images or videos to hide policy violating content.
The policy updates will be enforced beginning on May 4, 2021. However, violations of this policy will not result in immediate account suspension. Instead, Google will give offending accounts a warning at least seven days before account suspension.
