This decision represents a notable response to its main competitors, Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Notably, this move aims to enhance the adoption of Gemini by aligning its branding with its technological advancements and increasing its use among users seeking AI-powered solutions.
What is Gemini Advanced?
Google has also launched an upgraded paid version named Gemini Advanced, which is available in English in 150 countries and territories. This leverages its latest AI model, Ultra 1.0, praised as the company’s most advanced AI system.
“Today we’re launching Gemini Advanced — a new experience that gives you access to Ultra 1.0, our largest and most capable state-of-the-art AI model. In blind evaluations with our third-party raters, Gemini Advanced with Ultra 1.0 is now the most preferred chatbot compared to leading alternatives.”
To access Gemini Advanced, you’ll need to subscribe to the new Google One AI Premium Plan. This plan costs $19.99 monthly after a complimentary two-month trial period. According to Google, this version is designed to excel in complex tasks such as coding, logical reasoning, and creative pursuits, showcasing its ability to engage in extensive conversations and grasp context from previous interactions.

Mobile App: Gemini
Google is meeting users’ demand for mobile accessibility by launching a new app for Android and an integration within the Google app on iOS.
“Today we’re starting to roll out a new mobile experience for Gemini and Gemini Advanced with a new app on Android and in the Google app on iOS.“
Gemini will seamlessly integrate with Google Assistant on Android devices, offering smooth operation and voice control for connected home devices. The Gemini app is currently available on Android, and integration into the Google app on iOS is anticipated in the coming weeks. Upon downloading the app, users have the option to set Gemini as their default assistant for an immersive Gemini-led experience or keep their current assistant setup.
Final Thoughts
We’re in the early stages of Google’s new era, Gemini. Launched in December, it is already operational in Search Generative Experience (SGE), Search, Maps, and Google Ads. Gemini employs generative AI models to tailor recommendations and provide detailed answers to user queries.
Google will actively promote Gemini on mobile platforms and integrate it with its range of apps for consumers and businesses. Given its significant rebranding and mobile push, it is essential to monitor how Gemini influences user engagement, industry trends, and the ongoing changes to search.
